About

Asase Ba is a platform that honours oral tradition and shines a light on Ghanaian stories that are often untold or silenced. Asase Ba began as a podcast in 2019 and has since grown into an educational platform where Ghanaians can access written, audio and video resources about queer identities, cultural work, and indigenous spiritualities. Asase Ba is committed to centring marginalized voices and amplifying content that challenges the status quo.

Creator of Asase Ba

Asase Ba was created by Michelle, a Ghanaian Canadian cultural worker. Michelle’s passionate about learning, oral tradition, creative expression and African indigenous knowledge systems. She’s the host and creator of Asase Ba podcast and is dedicated to highlighting untold stories within the margins.

With a strong emphasis on Sankofa, ancestral wisdom, and alternate futures, Michelle produces cultural work that aligns with her purpose of documenting her people’s stories. During her leisure time, Michelle enjoys relaxing crafts, reading, and having fun in nature (but only when the weather is warm).

Michelle is available for educational workshops, speaking engagements and interviews on African indigenous knowledge systems, oral tradition, and Ghanaian stories within the margins. You can contact her here.
